Short Film Registration (Film shorter than about 20 min.)

The Arkhaios Short Film Competition presents future talent in filmmaking. 

Recognizing the important role short independent films have in the history of filmmaking, storytelling, and culture, Arkhaios helps empower the next generation of artists and scientists attracted to telling the stories of our past.

The Arkhaios Short Film Competition operates under the umbrella of the Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival, and showcases innovative cinema and new trends in short filmmaking aimed at discovering past cultures.

Awards will be given to the films selected by a panel of respected filmmakers and scholars.

• Best Arkhaios Short Film
• Best Short Cultural Heritage Film
• Best Short Archaeology Film
• Best Short Underwater Archaeology Film

1. Film must be a maximum of 2 years old since production.

2. Film must be a maximum of 20 minutes in duration.

3. Film must be related to the discovery of past cultures.

4. Non-English-language films must have English subtitles, or be dubbed in English.

5. Each director can submit a maximum of 2 short films.

6. Film may be submitted to Arkhaios Film Festival Short Film Competition only once.

7. Film may have been submitted to other festivals and have received awards.

8. Film must be submitted prior to the Arkhaios Film Festival deadline of June 15.

9. Format:  MP4 or MOV format.

10. Submission Process:

      I. To Submit your film, please email your work to 

          Shortfilmregistration@arkhaiosfilmfestival.org

      II. Submission title must follow the format “Film Title -- Director’s Full Name”

      III. Each film submission must include a Registration Form.

      IV. Registration is free.

11. Filmmakers certify that they have full rights to use all music in their films. 

12. All photos submitted may be used for any festivals promotions.
